I wasn't going to write about this, but it just seems wrong to pull her from the Squirrel Squad page without even a thought. She's been part of our team for 12 years. So one of my PR girls said I should put it out in a blog post.
Holly was part of our security team here at Holly Hill. She was the Holly behind our name. She was the world to us and just over a week back she went home to be with her brother Shadow, and sisters Star and Ruby. They are waiting somewhere on the other side of the rainbow bridge for us to meet again.
It's been a struggle these last few weeks. This sweet girl and her brother Ro have been my ride-or-die partners for 2 1/2 years as I found my way through Covid working from home. Many squirrels and chickens were chased over that time, and she was finally coming to terms with the mailman being a constant in our lives.
She will be missed terribly and I'm not quite ready to go back into the shop without her, but I wouldn't have done it any other way. I will miss the muddy paw prints this winter, the crunch of the kibble I constantly stepped on from her dropping pieces she didn't like for her brother to pick up and the feel of her sweet nose coming in for some well-deserved love when she thought I had worked a bit too long.
Rest easy sweet girl... We've got the watch from here and I promise we won't let you down.
Not the acorn I wanted to share but the one I felt I needed to.
The Head Squirrel
Melissa, I am so sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful girl and I'm sure she had a long and wonderful life with you all. Take good care and take time to grieve. Pets aren't property, they're family too.❤️, Holly
sorry for your loss…she was beautiful and love that she was your inspo for the name.
